Carrie Kerpen is an entrepreneur who built her business around her life – rather than striving to build her life around her business. “Hustle, Hustle, Hustle is NOT the Answer: You don’t have to build a unicorn to be successful, says Carrie. A lot of us feel pressure to go for the “brass ring”, raise lots of capital and build something massive. But you don’t: Build the business that supports the lifestyle you want to lead, and don’t just think in terms of dollar signs.
Get Used to ‘No’: Women can sometimes fall into the trap of being too coachable because we want to please everyone. If you’re going to raise funds, be clear and certain in your vision so you don’t easily get blown off course by a lot of contradictory advice.
“Entrepreneurship is therapy”: This is a journey that transforms us into our best selves – that is, if we want to succeed. You have to be open to self-discovery and self-improvement, and align your business to your authentic self and core competencies.
