Joy Schoffler built a financial technology PR agency from startup to scale and then when she exited by selling Leverage PR, she stepped into the investment world where she now encourages women to invest in other women entrepreneurs. Co-founder and Chief Strategic Officer of Upside Avenue and Casoro Capital, Joy shares her insights on investing, what it takes to create a great company, and tips for female founders.

One of my missions with Wings Of…Inspired Business  is to encourage more women to invest – and invest in other female founders – because on my own entrepreneurial journey I have been discouraged by how many wealthy women have no problems writing a million dollar check to a charity – and yet balk at even a $10000 investment in a startup that also has a social good mission, even outpacing the charity at solving the problem.

Joy Schoffler recently sold her financial services agency, Leverage PR – and having had an exit – decided to pay it forward by moving into the investment world.

Joy is now founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Upside Avenue and Casoro Capital, and after selling Leverage PR, she spent four years on the board of CFIRA working with the SEC and FINRA on JOBS Act implementation, which enabled online investing as we know it today.

Joy founded and built Leverage PR, a public relations firm focused on the financial services, technology, and real estate sectors—before selling it to the New York based Caliber Corporate Advisers, a strategic communications firm which works in similar sectors.

Joy currently sits on the advisory board of the SXSW Accelerator, AARP’s FinTech Accelerator and the FinTech Professionals Association. Joy additionally spent four years on the board of CFIRA working with the SEC and FINRA on JOBS Act implementation, which enabled online investing and crowdfunding as we know it today.

A former director of acquisitions and long-time investor of The PPA Group (Upside Avenue’s parent company), Joy helped acquire more than $250 million in real estate helping the company to make Inc. magazine’s “Inc. 5000” list of fastest growing private firms two years in a row.

Joy has spoken throughout the globe on financial technology and is a regular media contributor, she was the recipient of the Stiletto Woman in Business “Entrepreneur of the Year,” Women Communicators of Austin’s “Outstanding Austin Communicator,” and the 2016 Austin Under 40 award.

Joy served as a finance and public affairs officer in the U.S. Army Reserves and Texas State Guard.
