How to Overcome Body Shame
We’ve all had those moments, walking into a boutique fitting room and experiencing that shameful recrimination when the clothes that look so good on the hanger don’t look so good on us … or don’t fit.
When we’re endlessly bombarded with filter-perfect images on Instagram and beyond, we can fall into a trap of shame or self-loathing.
It was a shopping trip just 6 weeks after giving birth to her first child that sparked Julie Allen’s leap into entrepreneurship. She had had enough, so she created a clothing shop that focused on body acceptance and self-love.
After successfully navigating the Covid Pandemic to win “Best Online Boutique in Oregon” in 2020, Julie’s mission expanded and now her three guiding pillars are sustainability, inclusion, and social justice. Julie shifted her store by implementing sustainability – in other words, appropriate wages and ethical treatment given to all people that produce the garments, and eco-friendly clothes in all sizes.
