Lauren Hall is a technology entrepreneur who has built 5 companies to successful exit and is now on her way to building a $1bn unicorn.

She is as CEO and founder of iVvy, the multi-award winning online event organizing platform and SaaS technology company disrupting a fragmented and disorganized space with enterprise solutions for the events and hospitality industries.

When a family tragedy coincided with the painful realization that the technology she had built couldn’t scale, she made a tough decision. She turned down $10m in funding from the South African government to relocate to Australia where she knew she could protect her family – and she began building iVvy from scratch.

We talk technology innovation, finding and building the right team, how to scale, and why successful entrepreneurs thrive on change, pivots and adversity.

• Hire Character and Hire Your Weaknesses: Lauren “went undercover” for six months to study her co-founder before she brought him in.
• Never Give Up: “Many people throw in the towel when they are moments away from success because the challenge seems insurmountable. Never give up – you never know how close you are to achieving your goals.”
• Be Prepared: Know everything you can about your product, your industry, your competitors, your potential clients, and your potential investors. Identify his or her “hotspots” and articulate how your solution delivers better than anyone else.
• Solve a Global Pain Point: “The greater the pain the greater the opportunity”.
