From Scarcity to Abundance: How to Know Our Value as Women to Close the Gender Wealth Gap

Chances are you’ve overheard groups of men talking about money—sharing their knowledge, investment tips, and opportunities with each other. At the golf club, in the bar, on the basketball court, wherever. It’s always matter of fact, no shame, no reservedness. 

Now, think about how many casual conversations between women talking about building their wealth? 

Right. Not that many.

Michelle Taylor is the founder of the Women and Wealth Initiative; a transformative platform aimed at empowering women to take control of their financial futures. With over a decade of experience in financial services, Michelle says there is a striking difference between how men and women discuss money. Michelle says women shy away from expressing their financial ambitions—likely because all too often expressing big goals, like building a billion-dollar business, can draw skepticism from other women, while men are typically more encouraging with each other.

From the biases that restrict female founders to less than 2% of venture capital investment to women’s own subconscious blocks to knowing our true value, Michelle shares why women’s wealth is contingent on women shifting our money stories, boosting financially literacy, having the hard conversations, sharing resources with other women, and encouraging each other to aim higher.

Having overcome a battle with leukemia at 17 to launch a business by 27, Michelle’s passion for financial empowerment stems from both professional expertise and personal experiences. A member of the Millionaire Founders Club and Entreprenista League, Michelle continues to guide women through their financial journeys by equipping them with the tools to overcome limiting money beliefs and create long-term security.
