Melinda Wittstock: Welcome to Wings Joie.
Joie Cheng: Hi Melinda. Thanks for having me.
Melinda Wittstock: It’s great that you’re on. What’s inspiring you in the year ahead?
Joie Cheng: What I am really inspired right now is to help female entrepreneurs to birth themselves through the process of writing their book.
Melinda Wittstock: Oh, lovely. And so how do you help them write their book?
Joie Cheng: Yeah, I take them through a process very similar to the process that I went on. It’s a combination of coaching and doing healing work if necessary because I do both coaching and healing. Of course they get to have a finished product at the end of our program together but what is more I think transformational is really the journey they go on for themselves; who they become at the end of the process. I have a woman that I’ve been working with for a couple months now and she actually got inspired to shave her head and it’s just made her feel so free to be herself. It’s been really beautiful to witness that.

Melinda Wittstock: Joie, it’s really lovely because what you are doing is helping women step into their authentic truth or purpose. When you’re working with all these women, what is the biggest frustration that they often have in their lives as female entrepreneurs? And how about you, is there anything that’s sort of frustrating from the standpoint of being a women in business?
Joie Cheng: Yeah, I think that one of the things that can be challenging is balancing our masculine and our feminine. Because it’s so easy to … We live in such a masculine dominated society that I think a lot of us are used to doing it that way and just pushing ourselves and working really hard. And then realizing that we ended up burning out. It’s really how to balance the doing with the being.
Melinda Wittstock: Okay. Joie, what would be your top three pieces of advice for women in business? Women who are thinking of becoming entrepreneurs or maybe they are all ready but they’ve hit some sort of block or something on their path that’s stopping them from realizing the success that they really want to manifest. What are your top three?
Joie Cheng: My top three pieces of advice, the first one would be to schedule time for self care. It’s something that seems so simple but it can be so easy for us to not do if we don’t actually schedule time for it. I literally put my yoga classes, I put my massage on there, anything that really helps me to be my best. Schedule your time your self-care.
And then the second thing would be don’t try to do everything on your own. It’s so easy, especially in the beginning, we feel we have to do it all on our own. And however you can get some support in whatever way. If you can get someone to help you out it makes such a difference. Be willing to partner with other people to see where you can collaborate and not try to do everything on your own.

The third thing I would say is to be gentle with yourself. It’s not an easy path that we choose when we become an entrepreneur and so really being compassionate and loving towards ourselves. When we get those no’s or feel like, “What are we doing,” and we just need to really love ourselves and encourage ourselves to keep going.
Melinda Wittstock: That is wonderful. How can people find you and work with you?
