216 MINISODE Reelika Schulte – Letting Go of Your Control Freak

Reelika Schulte teaches women around the world how to leverage their life experiences to create automated online and “evergreen” coaching businesses. CEO and founder of Design Dream Lifestyle, Reelika shares why it’s important to learn how to “let go”, trust your team and focus on working “on” your business instead of “in” it.

Melinda Wittstock:         Reelika, welcome to Wings.

Reelika Schulte:               Thank you so much, excited to be here.

Melinda Wittstock:         Yes, I’m excited to hear all your advice for women entrepreneurs and let’s start, though, with what’s inspiring you right now.

Reelika Schulte:               For me, honestly, my family. I have a seven year old son and amazing husband, so my family’s definitely my number one reason that inspires me to take action every single day. That’s my big why.

Melinda Wittstock:         That’s wonderful, because if we have really supportive people around us, if our families really get us as entrepreneurs, we’re much more like to succeed.

Reelika Schulte:               Absolutely, absolutely, we got to be inspired; otherwise there is no results.

Melinda Wittstock:         Yes, that’s right, so they’re your big why. I love that. And so all entrepreneurs have challenges and I love to de-stigmatize those, because they just kind of come with the territory, so what are some of yours?

Reelika Schulte:               I would say that it used to be the anxiety to maybe step away from my business, because if you run an online business and you have a small team, so you’re always kind of anxious, like where my next client is coming from and let’s say you want to take maybe like a week off or even a few days off, and you’re not present in social media, then that can cause anxiety. So I would say that this really, that used to be now, but now I would say I’ve been transitioning away a little bit by fixing this having a team who can have my back while I actually can step away from there.

But this used to be my biggest, biggest frustration, because it was hard for me to find this work and life balance, especially when you’re working from home as well. If you want to have your personal space, you want to have time with your family, but you also need to run the business, so I feel like having life boundaries, having like the support around you, such as maybe an assistant or a salesperson and or maybe a social media manager, that can really take off this frustration and lift this, make you thrive online more, so that you’ll not be frustrated all the time.

Melinda Wittstock:         Oh my goodness, that’s right. It’s so true to have boundaries when so many of us, I mean you know, including myself, you know, do so much work from home. We increasingly have virtual teams and yes, I mean, if you’re not careful you can just be 24/7. So what are your top three go-to pieces of advice for women in business and entrepreneurs, whether they’re all already on the journey or thinking of taking the leap, what are some of the things you’ve learned along the way that you’d like to share?

Reelika Schulte:               Sure, so I would say number one, the most important one, just be confident, women just need confidence, just trust yourself, because if you’re not trusting yourself and the gifts that you have, then nobody else will, so you really have to be confident, because the person who’s most confident wins online, no matter what, and just trust yourself because I feel like, compared to men, maybe, like men are always confident, but women start really questioning themselves a lot, and I really do this. I’m not good enough, so just be confident and just trust yourself.

And then obviously, let’s just say charge your worth in terms of a lot of times, I feel like new entrepreneurs, they want it, they [inaudible 00:03:42] their prices for their services, but instead of discounting your prices for your services, add more value. See how you can add more value that you can really differentiate yourself from others, and you can really stand out so you really can put yourself out there in a bigger way.

And I would say lastly, ask for help, like from anyone, whether this is your mentor, maybe this is your assistant, maybe this is your husband, your boyfriend, because nobody else has built the business by themselves alone. Maybe you have some luck first, but at some point you got to ask for help, and this help could be as simple as a babysitting or a housekeeping or anything that you can really take some pressure off from yourself, so if you do those things, I feel like this really sets you up for success.
