Valerie began her career in Silicon Valley as a securities lawyer, an investment banker, a consultant to venture capital firms and an Internet executive before transitioning into the entertainment industry. Along the way she became a recognized expert on workplace culture and the advancement of women. A keynote speaker, screenwriter and author, Valerie wrote the bestseller Happiness as a Second Language, as well as the book How Women Can Succeed in the Workplace (Despite Having “Female Brains”). Her TED Talk, “How to Outsmart Your Own Unconscious Bias” has been seen and shared around the globe. Valerie received her B.A. from Trinity, her M.S. in environmental economics from U.C., Berkeley, and her J.D. from Berkeley Law, where she returned to teach the legal ethics seminar, “Representation of Law in Film.”
