WINGS of Advice: Diane Curran

Diane Curran puts on the ‘Advice WINGS’ today to show why women are best suited to leverage social media to grow their businesses. The “wow whisperer” and owner of The Marketing Deal, Diane helps business owners transform their inner critic into a powerful “inner ally”.
Melinda Wittstock:         Welcome to Wings, Diane.
Diane Curran:                    Thank you so much, Melinda. It is really my pleasure and honor to be here with you today.
Melinda Wittstock:         Well, I’m so excited to hear your advice for all our shero listeners, but first, what is inspiring you right now?
Diane Curran:                    So what I’m really excited about is how women are taking our unique talents and skills into the world of social media so we can claim empowering and healing connections. We are used to doing that in person, and now, we’re finding a way to learn how to do that online. We’ve got some fabulous new tools, including tools where we can literally see each other as we’re speaking. So it’s giving us that opportunity to bring our strengths to a new medium.

Melinda Wittstock:         That’s wonderful, and the leverage of social media allows us to get our message out on a personal level so much further and faster. So that’s awesome. So what do you think is the biggest challenge that most female entrepreneurs face?
Diane Curran:                    It’s really about finding our unique, natural voice, not some voice that comes from somebody else, and really discovering, getting acquainted with that, and then confidently presenting who we are, because that is what people are looking for, kind of individuality and authenticity. And when we are willing to share who we are, we attract people who want who we are.
Melinda Wittstock:         Wonderful, that wonderful, authentic feminine power. So now, you’re on the hot seat on Wings for the best advice. Number one, what’s your first tip today?
Diane Curran:                    I would say the first thing is when you want to let people know that you hear them, it opens up their willingness to listen to you. And now, you have a mutual connection that allows for really natural, authentic back and forth.
Melinda Wittstock:         I love it. What’s number two?

Diane Curran:                    Number two? Oh, this is a big one, and I struggle with this. If you want to stand out in a crowd, it requires making your inner critic become your true inner ally, and there are steps you can take, and it’s going to make such a difference in the way you walk in the world.
Melinda Wittstock:         I want to have you come on a longer segment on this show to talk about exactly that, so shero listeners out there, I’m going to have Diane back to expand on that, because turning your inner critic into your inner ally … beautiful. Beautiful.
Diane Curran:                    It makes such a difference. I’m excited. Well, I’m looking forward to that conversation.

Diane Curran:                    Number three is something that really can take … it can take a leap of faith when you’re maybe in a tough cycle or moment of your business, and that is trusting that your best audience really wants to find you, but they may not know yet how to do that or where to do that. And there’s plenty you can do to make that known.

Diane Curran:                    Oh, that is so true. We’ve got a certain amount, and try as we might, running faster is not the answer. Running smarter and sometimes slowing down to breath makes all the difference.
