Let’s face it. Very few among us are natural born communicators. 

Sure, we all communicate all the time, but very few of us are spell-binding masters at it. We can feel misunderstood, interrupted, ignored, our words can have unintended consequences, and sometimes they are not enough to close the sale, motivate a team member, or land you those keynote stages.

But we can learn.

And we must because success in business comes down to relationships. People buy from people. People work with people. People invest in people. So how we communicate is vital to our success.  

Michelle Gladieux is known as the “human potential whisperer” and author of the book “Communicate with Courage,” revealing four hidden obstacles in communication and how to overcome them. 

She’s also President of Gladieux Consulting, offering executive coaching on communication and leadership as well as and strategic planning around the U.S. Starting her career as an HR and Training Director in the cold storage, robotics, and construction industries, Michelle has 18 years collegiate teaching experience at three universities, accepting her first faculty position teaching organizational leadership at age 23. 

Michelle says there are four hidden challenges we often face:

• Hiding from risk due to fear or avoidance.
• Needing to be right, leading to an overconfidence in one’s perspectives.
• Rationalizing the negative by expecting poor outcomes.
• Settling for “good enough”, so not striving for excellence.
